The next step in the evolution of wearable tech innovation is the integrated smart garment, or ISG.

Traditional approaches to ergonomics have struggled with scaling data collection and analysis in a simple and reliable way. The goal of scaling data collection is to have an accurate process for assessing, comparing, and prioritizing risk factors across employees, jobs, and tasks. These ISGs provide the same data collection capabilities as wearable sensors but with the benefit of a more natural, comfortable user experience.

Integrated smart garments utilize textile-embedded sensors to collect kinematic and environmental data in real-time as employees carry out their job tasks. In market research, employees have shown a clear preference for garments over any other wearable attachment method due to ease of use and comfort. Integrated smart garments help overcome many of the logistical challenges of deploying wearable sensors and enable the data collection and risk assessment experience to become as quick, easy, and comfortable as putting on a shirt. This is a powerful benefit that will enable organizations to scale data collection and analysis with less of the challenges that they currently face, all while delivering a solution that the frontline teams can buy into.
