Vancouver, BC – LifeBooster is pleased to announce the appointment of a new advisor, Dan Robinson, doctor of kinesiology and founder of Robinson Ergonomics Inc., to its Advisory Board effective immediately. Robinson has a wealth of experience and specialized expertise that will be valuable in ensuring the effectiveness of the company’s ErgoSenz™ system in combating Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD) within the workplace.
Despite advances in company safety programs, embracing of safety culture, and thorough ergonomic assessments in engineering processes, MSD cost U.S. enterprises $21.21B in direct costs for 2014 alone. The indirect cost can be even more substantial as they can add 10 times the direct cost to the total injury cost. In addition, the lasting impact on the emotional and physical health and overall well-being of injured employees and their families is beyond measurement.
Robinson is a Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist (CCPE) and practicing kinesiologist (BC Association of Kinesiologists) that has consulted and researched ergonomics/human factors extensively since 1989. He completed both a PhD and MSc in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and a BSc in Biochemistry at the University of British Columbia (UBC.) Prior to founding Robinson Ergonomics Inc., Robinson was a Senior Ergonomist in the Ergonomics and Human Factors Group at BC Research Inc. for nearly a decade and Coordinator of SFU’s Institute for Human Performance.
Currently, Robinson is an instructor for SFU’s Rehabilitation Management Diploma Program and Faculty at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Wilson School of Design where he teaches Human Factors within the Technical Apparel post-baccalaureate program and both Product Design and Interior Design degree programs. In addition, Robinson has acted as an Adjunct Professor in both UBC’s Faculty of Graduate Studies and SFU’s Faculty of Applied Science. His extensive career has allowed him to gain experience in a broad range of environments including: office, construction, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, banking, all levels of government, utilities, mining, forestry, military, laboratory, library, performing arts, warehouse and distribution, marine, and technology development.
“Dan Robinson’s vast experience assessing and developing ergonomic programs within a number of industries brings tremendous value to the LifeBooster team. His knowledge has helped develop a highly intuitive user experience allowing any individual to view our data and quickly understand where the risks on a worksite are and what caused them,” said Bryan Statham, CSO and VP of Marketing at LifeBooster. “With Robinson as an advisor, we have been able to develop a product that utilizes government approved standards in an exceptionally innovative manner. Musculoskeletal Disorders are among the hardest to prevent; however, by utilizing leading edge technologies and trending analytics to eliminate these preventable injuries we are able to help improve the quality of life for many workers while saving companies thousands of dollars.”
”LifeBooster’s ErgoSenz™ is at the leading edge of wearable technology and analytics for MSD prevention,” said Dan Robinson. “The Lifebooster team has produced a system that takes complex measurement and analysis out of the lab and places it into the real world in a way that is usable and practical for both employees and safety professionals.”
LifeBooster’s ErgoSenz™ is an injury prevention system designed to help employees avoid injuries and allow employers to save insurance costs related to workplace injuries. Incorporating the latest in wireless motion and environmental sensors, the cloud-based Injury RIsk Sensing (IRIS™) analytics engine analyzes the constant stream of sensor data with a series of advanced predictive algorithms. Real-time alerts are issued when a high risk of MSD is detected. A web-based dashboard enables the occupational health and safety officers to have full situational awareness on their entire physical workforce against the risk of MSD.
LifeBooster’s mission is to eliminate preventable injuries and improve the health and safety of all employees in the workplace by leveraging the latest in advanced technologies.
